I'm just new here and applied on some data entry work I've seen.
I received an email the next day and the instruction was to type the
images or distorted words on the screen. He would pay $3/hr for 5hrs of
work per day and would give payment after 35hrs. I didn't know much
about this kind of scam since I'm new here. I thought all employers here
were screened and verified by Odesk. Since the work is easy and I'm
overly excited to get my first job I quickly jumped to work. I thought
I'm still working with Odesk. Later just I found out that this was scam
Captcha data entry work. The employer didn't respond to my emails and I
was not paid.
So everyone please avoid these type of jobs where the employer would
ask you to type images or distorted images on the screen. I heard
sometimes that they would pretend to ask you to translate pdf files into
word. These are Captcha jobs. Captchas are used by hackers and spammers
and you don't want to be a part of that scheme. Even if some are not, I
believe there's no need for a mass hiring of Captcha work.
I applied again to another data entry work but I received a similar
email again that's offering Captcha job. It was very different to the
kind of work he posted. I guess there are so many scammers here but
Odesk is not doing enough to filter these scammers. So everyone be
careful. Scammers are disguising the work that they are posting too
here.
